The BBC’s “Bang goes the Theory” programme said only 112 people died as a result of Chernobyl. This is like saying that smoking only kills people who die in house fires from dropped cigarettes, ignoring all of the deaths from lung cancer. Radiation kills and radioactive waste is a legacy that is toxic for 10,000 or more years.
